"Uses more ink cleaning than printing!" Insane Pencil on 05-Jul-2002 07:52:16 pm
It cost me $80 and came with two ink cartridges. Two replacement cartridges will cost $60! That's almost a new printer!!
At first, cleaning helped. I have cleaned it about 4-6 times and still it is banding! The ink monitor tells me I am almost out of black ink.
I have used more ink cleaning than printing! On the plus side, images are quite nice. Support? I can't say. I didn't call Epson. Features? Avergae, I guess. But I don't have sufficient knowledge to judge. I'm taking this sucker back and getting a printer that has a print head that is REMOVABLE and easily cleanable with alcohol!
"clogged print heads" Paul on 25-Sep-2002 08:12:16 pm
This printer does print excellent photo quality, but
I had it about a week and was having problems with lines in the print. Ran their clean nozzle head 6 times and still never came clean. I figure if Im having problems like this right out of the box, whats to come.(a fortune in ink to run the cleaner). I did notice that the manual has a large section on trouble shooting for poor print quality. Sort of tells me either theyre a real helpfull bunch, or they just havent been able to fix this engineering problem. While they're workin on they're putting out this door stop to pay the bills. I brought it back and bought a canonS520 instead. Seems to be a good choice so far.

This is printer is absolutely horrid. If you had to put up with the kind of frustrations that i've had to deal with this Stylus C60, you'd agree. Printed about 1 full color picture, started to streak.
Cleaned head nozzle and checked streaking, printed photo, streaked again. Repeted process about a dozen times. Ended up with more than 10 line streaked pictures. It said "It's All About Image, It's All About Value" on the packaging, and i'd have to say, i feel extremely cheated. I've wasted so much time, so much ink, and so much paper, so much money. Peoples, if you are reading this, PLEASE DONT BUY THIS PRINTER!!!!
"I've spent approx. $300 + on inks in 6 months!" Andrea on 11-Jan-2003 03:52:53 pm
I actually tried getting my money back on this machine when I realised it used up a whole black ink cartridge in 25 normal pages (not photo) and the seller assured me the first ink cartridges wouldn't last long as all the little reservoirs had to be filled with the initial cartrige and that subsequent cartridges would last a lot longer.... WRONG!
And streaks galore, it is 6 months old and can't even print black text anymore without having to clean heads first! (Big ink user) when I do a test printout after head cleaning, I'm lucky to get the black and half the yellow square to print, so this printer is now useless and a big money waster.
"The worst printer I ever owned." Shan on 14-Jan-2003 01:42:55 pm
Bought three c 60 at Best Buy in Septembeer 2002.
One uses black ink like crazy. Went through 6 cartridges in three months printing 600 black only total pages. One died before finishing 100 Christmas cards. The last one is showing the message cartridge is out of ink. I already installed 3 (three) new cartridges from Staples at $ 28.99 a piece + tax.and the message is still being displayed. I still own a 860 which runs on generic cartridges and has never failed me in the five years I owned it. I bought 3 Lexmark Z54 se a month ago. They are actually slower than C 60 in photo printing but they have not given me any trouble yet. The cartridges last about 350 pages black.

heck of a great deal" ilove_epson on 12-Sep-2002 06:22:16 pm
With this printer now selling for $60 bucks at many stores, you can't find a better "low-cost" printer. While many people on this board say ink costs are high on this printer, check out consumer reports issue for Aug/Sept. It lists this printer as a BEST BUY with excellent color comparing to much higher cost printers.
One complaint I do have about Epson is the streaking. If you don't print every other day or so, you'll have to do a head cleaning which is time consuming.
"Don't bother buying this one!" Andy on 19-Sep-2002 12:32:16 pm
I bought this printer 5 months ago for $69 after rebates. I didn't bother doing much research on the printer model since I already own an Epson 785 photo printer and have been pleased with its performance. What a mistake! I wasn't expecting the world but I wanted a good everyday printer for our second computer.
The printhead is clogged and I can't get it to unclog no matter how many times I run the head cleaning utility. I even tried (with difficulty) to clean the printhead with alcohol on a Q-tip but it didn't work. I haven't called customer support because they are just going to tell me to run the cleaning utility. I think this printer has a basic design flaw and I feel ripped off by Epson. I am planning on cutting my losses by throwing this paperweight in the trash and buying a Cannon S520 or S750.
"undependable print quality and ink cartridges" Barbara Larsen on 03-May-2002 04:22:18 pm
I printed 150 pages and the ink started to show streaks. After cleaning and testing half a dozen times, I could finally print some more pages. All of which used the ink at an incredible rate. I bought more cartridges and have gotten 180 pages with two black cartridges and three color. It is still in warranty and I am taking it back. Too much hassle, too much time wasted, and too much money spent on ink for too few pages actually printed. My 812C Hewlett Packard has higher priced ink cartridges but they never give me any trouble and print several hundred pages before running out. In all, HP is a better value.
"If you can afford ink, then buy this printer." Learning things everyday :-) on 17-Dec-2002 03:22:53 pm
This C-60 printer was part of the package when I purchased my system, I had no choice, plus, was a complete novice in the area of anything to do with computers. Well, I can tell you, I would not buy it again,
it streaks after a couple of uses, and no matter how ofter I clean the heads, it still has a slight line. It is very noisy and slow, to me. I can not believe the amount of ink it uses. You will go broke keeping in it. I am looking for another printer like a canon maybe. Why, at the price of cartridges for this, you can get a real good printer. I did not know you could not refill it either, that really irritated me. So, after I write this, it is back to the taxing chore of reading reviews on printers. You sure do learn alot when you are a beginner, at a high cost, I might add.
"BRING YOUR BANKROLL FOR INK!" Jon on 25-Oct-2002 02:32:50 pm
Well, you've already heard about this machine being ink hungry. A major concern is waiting for it to initialize once you click print! I've heard that this unit is a relatively fast printer, when it FINALLY gets going, but takes forever to initialize. It has to think long and hard before it even starts to print, then clicks and groans, adjusts itself and all kinds of things before it does. It is noisy and places a pop-up screen on your desktop telling you it is going to print (unless you know how to set the properties), you have to minimize it, which is a pain, especially for a business person working on letters and such. It isn't priced badly at all and though I have never attempted to print a photo,
it does streak letters frequently, so make sure to have spare ink, especially if you attempt to clean the print heads. For the ink it uses just with business letters and some color printed from websites, it becomes a very costly machine to use. I've always had HP units since my first 612 model and most of the printers in my office are HP and I have advised my employer not to purchase any more of these Ebson printers. The bottom line on price is not the cost of the machine, but the cost to use it. I would think spending $250 on an HP (or other) unit would be more cost effective in one year than spending less than $100 on this Ebson unit and the boxes of ink cartridges it will take to maintain it. And, if you run out of color ink, it will not let you print b & w until you replace it and vice versa. I recommend strongly against this unit.
"INK INK INK" juan on 11-Oct-2002 07:22:53 am
I had owned lexmar, canon, epson, hp. was looking for photo quality and price. this c60 qualitywise was excellent but if u run out of ink on either cartridge (b&w / c) machine will stop working until u replace the cartridge (crazy) also cannot be re fill it easile, they are chipped so you need to get a software or a device to reset cartridges, plus cartridges died even when 20%25 of ink is still inside them. I you don't have a clue how to fool around this machine , you will spend average 70 dollars in ink every +- 25 high quality pictures 8.5x11" that means 2.8 dollars per photo with original ink. Personally I like better flexibility

Bought the Epson Stylus C-60 printer a few months ago because it had a rebate and looked like an extremely good deal. I trusted Epson's name. I was wrong, all the money saved is quickly spent in ink, this thing drinks ink for each page printed, let alone pictures, and worse,
it needs cleaning frequently which also uses ink. I never knew what any printed page was going to look like, many had to be done over, and in a few months it's had three double cartridge replacements. Even using generic ink (MyInk.com is good) this printer costs too much and it's a huge hassle to operate. I bought a nice reliable HP 960C last week.
NOSSA! Abusei da sua atenão e boa vontade amigo Teco-Teco, me perdoe, é que essa porcaria continua por aqui, me atirando na cara a minha premeditação.
Um grande abraço, amigo e sorte em tudo na vida!
